A Child's View of the Holocaust

Publication at Faculty of Arts |
2016

Abstract

Using the perspective of a child narrator is a highly specific and uncommon approach to narrating the Holocaust. This chapter deals with several narrative topics: life in a ghetto or in a concentration camp (Arnošt Lustig, J.

R. Pick), life outside a ghetto (Ladislav Grosman) and the chanching of Jewish and non-Jewish perspectives (Josef Škvorecký, Hana Bořkovcová, Ota Pavel, and Ladislav Fuks) and the child's perspective as a subtopic (Ludvík Aškenazy, Irena Dousková, Arnošt Goldflam).
