Abstract

Ladislav Fuks's novella The Cremator (1967) and the eponymous film directed by Juraj Herz (1969] are based on stylization and complicated construction. The protagonist Karel Kopfrkingl seems to be a good crematorium worker and an attentive father of his family.

His darker nature rises after the Munich Agreement, he acceptes the Nazi racist ideology and becomes an informer and a murder.
