Abstract
A quarter century after the Velvet Revolution, it is definitely the right time to look back at all the ups and downs of the newly won democracy. They determine the present public attitudes towards the democratic polity and participation in it.
What exactly caused the slump in the curves of confidence in democracy as such, domestic political institutions and parties, the European Union or NATO? These questions are discussed in the reviewed publication.
