Teaching evolution and natural selection at Czech and British schools

Abstract

The article presents data of a comparative analysis between Czech and British teachers. The research aims to verify main biological topics associated with teaching evolution and natural selection.

Total 350 teachers from Czech Republic and 122 teachers from England and Scotland took part in the research. The data were consisted of filled-in online questionnaires.

The main statistical procedures used for data analysis were descriptive statistics and chi-square test. The results show that Human Evolution and the Origin of life are the most common topics taught at Czech schools in the context of biological evolution while the British schools focus on Genetic and Adaptation
