Abstract
From September 23, 2016 to January 29, 2017 the Jewish Museum Berlin organized an exhibition called "Golem". A plethora of the exposed objects was associated with nascence because in the Hebrew the term "golem" means i. a. embryonic stage.
The efforts of the Jewish medieval mystics to enliven a dead matter continue today in genetics or AI - in the sense of the trustees of the exhibition robots are the modern golems. However, golems can get out of control and then they become symbol of the disaster caused by men not only in the science, but in the policy as well - in the exhibition the visitors could see e. g. a big swastika or the baseball cap of Donald Trump.
The dark side of the golem was dominant in the exhibition and it was emphasised with light effects and other scenographic methods. Moreover, the visitors were systematically made part of the exhibition and constrained so to think about what it means to be human.
