Abstract
The Chapter analyses a development in the Republic of Montenegro since the disintegration of Yugoslavia. It explains political and social processes in this former federal unit of socialist Yugoslavia in a broader historical and geographical context.
The chapter comments political events in last 25 years in detail. Furthermore it examines some key issues such a dispute over a character of modern Montenegrin statehood and a national identity.
