Abstract

Prostate cancer is one of the most common malign diseases occuring in men population in the Czech Republic. Advanced stage of the disease requires comprehensive therapy by using different groups of drugs and different timing and sequences of its use.

As the time goes, initially hormone-dependent carcinoma advances new growing characteristics and becomes hormone-independent (castration resistant prostate cancer - CRPC). Until recently, the only option for CRPC was chemotherapy.

During the last years, scientists have developed new hormonal drugs we can use with good results even in CRPC treatment. Furthermore, there are new drugs used in prostate cancer bone metastases.
