Abstract

Caring has always been basic human activity. It is a basic condition for survival.

The ethics of care is based on relational approach, mutual dependence. Human fragility and vulnerability are considered rather than autonomy and free decision making.

Civil society, which aims to ensure the rights and equitable access to care for all its members, presupposes the existence of caring relationships at the personal and political level. It is essential that caring is recognized as a practice that does not threaten human dignity and autonomy, but rather strengthen relationships based on trust and mutual respect.

Recognition of care as value allows the cultivation of caring relationship between people in their personal lives as well as among members of society (Tronto, 2009). As an example of a caring society and community Jitka Zgola introduced her initiative of community housing in Cape Breton
