The attitudes of education professionals and parents of children with special needs towards inclusive education in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Czech Republic and Serbia

Abstract

According to UNESCO, inclusive education requires schools to provide education for all children regardless to their differences. All children should be equal members of the school community despite their strengths and weaknesses in the specific areas.

The rights of every child have to be respected, and responsibility of each country is to create equal opportunities for all.Numerous researches have proven that positive attitudes of professionals, who are involved in the education process of children with special needs, as well as the attitudes of parents of these children, have a great impact on successful outcomes of inclusive education.The UN Convention on The Rights of The Persons with Disabilities was signed by The Czech Republic, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia in 2009. Due to the differences in political and economic situation, as well as the social conditions, it is considered that there are some differences in implementation of inclusive education in these countries.The aim of this qualitative research is to explore the attitudes of education professionals, who work in the mainstream schools, and parents of children with special needs towards inclusive education.
