Abstract
The contribution describes and critically evaluates the law of product liability in the Czech Republic and its functioning. The Union's directive was not perfectly transposed into Czech Civil Code.
The open questions are resolved according to a general law in Civil Code. The product liability is rarely applied in praxis.
There are no decisions of higher Courts which speaks of law awareness of the consumer protection in the Czech Republic.
