Actual Problems of Regional Education - Reflection of School Management

Abstract

The paper deals with regional education from the viewpoint of educational policy makers and school management, in particular as an area of social practice (educational reality). Educational policy papers (specifically the "Educational Policy Strategy of the Czech Republic until 2020" and the "Long-term Aims for Education and Education System Development in the Czech Republic for the period 2015-2020") constitute the starting point for the whole text and especially for the content analysis of observations made by participants of focus groups composed of specialists and "informed laypersons".

The basic question for two rounds of focus groups (which took place in 2014 and 2015) was "What are the basic strengths and weaknesses of the current approach to education in the regions of the Czech Republic?". The discussed current themes of regional education (results of focus groups obtained by content analysis of participants' contributions) correspond with an overview of areas referred to in the "Long-term Aims for Education and Education System Development in the Czech Republic for the period 2015-2020".
