Neuroendocrine tumors (NET) are group of neuroendocrine neoplasms (NEN) and neuroendocrine carcinomas (NEC), entities with different clinical behavior and prognosis. Proper diagnosis and classification are key points for predicting the behavior of the disease and determining the most appropriate treatment.
Long-term survival of patients with NEN is not only a reflection of their forbearing biology, but also successful treatment, which in recent years has noticed significant advances. Retrospective review of cases diagnosed prior to 2010 may be a source of important data, but also an interesting historical background the development of treatments for the disease.
