Abstract

The book deals with the family as basic element of the society and an object of an state interest in the field of social engineering. In the Bohemia lands 1918-1989, family policy was influenced by external factors, but increasingly also by an state interest in policies and practice in the field of social care, social insurance, "racial" and eugenical attitudes up to the universalistic project under the catchword "to all and equally".

The book describes development during longterm period, analyses the roles of the actors in the field of family policy and discuss the expert discourses in connection to the key issues of the legal measures related to the family.
