Abstract

The aim of the paper was to examine the back-translation of collocations of the lexeme ženský/mužský in translation from Czech into Polish on basis of data from the parallel language corpus InterCorp. The investigation was based on the component of InterCorp with Czech original texts and their Polish translations.

In the first phase, we found the all possible collocations of the lexeme ženský/mužský with nouns in the framework of the Czech component. Next we had found their equivalents in Polish and we conducted (on the most frequent examples) back-translation, which means we had searched for translats obtained in Polish in the component of InterCorp with Polish original texts and their Czech translations.

We found out that equivalence of investigated lexemes between Czech and Polish is high and the semantic shift was not so significant.
