Abstract
The author gives attention to the scientific work of Daniela Hodrová (particularly to the book Na okraji chaosu) and to her essays (the book Chvála schoulení), with the accent on the concepts utterance ("promluva") and discourse ("diskurz"). The analysis is oriented to various occurences of these terms in the texts of D.
Hodrová and to the way of their contextualization. Moreover, the author is interested in the oscillation of the essays of D.
Hodrová between the scientific discourse, marketing discourse, ordinary everyday communication and especially literary discourse (D. Hodrová herself is the successful author of fiction).
