Effect of Temporal Manipulations on the Perception of Speaker Competence

Abstract

The present study examines the effect of the temporal organization of utterances on the perception of a speaker's competence. Both groups of listeners - those proficient in Spanish and with no knowledge of Spanish - evaluated the manipulated items negatively in terms of competence.
