The Indirect Evidence for Lucretius' Fidelity to Epicurus : Lucretius and Cic. Fin. 1,29-31

Abstract

The article confronts Lucretius with a passage from Cicero (Cic. Fin. 1,29-31) which proves there were three currents of Epicurean epistemology.

After an analysis of Lucretius' opinions on the origin and nature of notions (so-called preconceptions) the author concludes that Lucretius sticked firmly to the original opinions of Epicuros, not to its later modifications.
