Abstract
In July 2016, a school teacher belonging to the community of Twelve Tribes in Klosterzimmern, Germany, was sentenced to two years in prison for having beaten her pupils. The article briefly outlines the history and theology of Twelve Tribes and refers to other conflicts between American and German authorities on one side and this new religious movement on the other.
Some of them have been caused by highly controversial practice of corporal punishment. The article is supplemented by a statement of Twelve Tribes concerning the verdict over the school teacher.
