Abstract
The Lai element in the judiciary is very interesting and actual theme due to contemporary discussion. This theme is still neglected in the studies of the extraordinary people's courts.
This study brings new information based on the research of the archival documents in the Extraordinary People's Court in Mlada Boleslav. Laymen in the investigative commissions often inexpertly investigated cases and they sometimes committed excesses.
The study also contains information about decisions of judges - one professional judge and four Laymen. These Laymen have problems to understand the complicated cases and the professional judge had to explain before final decision.
The study included ways of decisions and its variances due to basic analysis based on advisory reports and comparison with the situation after 1949. The research of this phenomenon is important due to current perception and possible future legislation.
