Hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) was introduced as treatment for patients with CML in chronic phase (CP) in the late 1970's.1 Transplantation of bone marrow cells from syngeneic donors after high-dose chemotherapy made successful eradication of the Philadelphia positive clone possible. HSCT gained rapid acceptance.
