Abstract

I claim that Socrates' self-underestimating declarations about his lack of wisdom belong to strategic devices of dominant philosopher who speaks in front of the crowd. In political arena, the philosopher admits his obligation to become a philosopher-king if only his fellow-citizens would recognize his dominance.

In this context, the chapter further explores the approach of the philosopher to the given laws which are to be respected and taken into account if the political reform should take place and succeed.
