Publication at Faculty of Humanities, Faculty of Arts |
2016

Abstract

The paper provides a summary of the evidence of the foundations of the emporion Pistiros in Central Thrace. The settlement was built according to the Hippodamean system, with a division into kleroi by a central authority, a ktistes, and the function of a colonnade as a supervised market place.

The goods arrived there through the Eastern Gate, and were protected against rain, snow, and excessive sunshine.
