Abstract

Facial nerve damage, either because of a pathology or caused during surgery, brings along with it significant and often permanent functional and psychological issues, strongly impacting the patient's quality of life. The goal of this monograph is to present a complex overview of this issue, from anatomy and functional physiology, to diagnostics, to therapy options, to specific pathologies affecting or threatening the facial nerve along its whole course.
