Abstract

Information education and education in publication skills is a significant support to young and early career researchers, i.e. a group of researchers who are at the beginning of their careers and who start to build up their position in the international research community. To be successful, they need to have an overview in the area of scientific publishing, research evaluation and assessment, copyright and intellectual property rights.

These issues are part of the information and publication literacy, and the education in these issues is one of the main competencies of the university library. This paper brings together the major aspects that influence the information and publication literacy of young researchers, and introduces the first results of a pilot study that was based upon the experience gained in the editorial board of research journals located in the Central Library of the Czech Technical University in Prague.
