Abstract

The chapter resumes the history of Czech/Czechoslovak Ibero-American studies within the broader context of the development of non-European ethnography in the Eastren Bloc in the second half of the 20th century. It traces the role of individuals (especially Josef Polišenský) as well as institutional pressures and influence of events in foreign countries.
