Abstract

The book arose in connection with the project Correspondence Karel Havlicek. The book introduces the personalities that have shaped together with Karel Havlíček atmosphere of political, public and cultural life in the forties and fifties of the 19th century in a consistent and opposition concept.

They are included Vilém Gabler, Václav Vladivoj Tomek, brothers Josef Jireček and Hermenegild Jireček, Prokop Chocholoušek, Václav Jaromír Picek and Jakub Malý. The book is also a portrait of the Austrian minister Alexander Bach, Havlíček's opponent ex officio.
