The Enclosed Area of the Funnel Beaker Culture at Hrdly: Summary of the Interdisciplinary Research Results.

Publication at Faculty of Arts |
2016

Abstract

In 2013-2014, the Institute of Classical Archeology (Faculty of Arts, Charles University) realized an investigation of the enclosed area at Hrdly (Litoměřice district) as part of the project of the Charles University Grant Agency (GA UK) No. 623612. The support and cooperation was especially granted by Melichar History Museum in Unhošť, Cultural Heritage Documentation and Digitization Center UJEP, and National Heritage Institute.

The finished excavations were followed by another GA UK project No. 105315 in 2015-2016, enabling comprehensive processing and evaluation of findings gathered in previous seasons of the field research. Results of both projects have clearly shown that the enclosed area was built by the representatives of the Funnel Beaker culture.

In the area of the trench 03, human burials were discovered that could be attributed to the Corded Ware culture.
