The Cervantean Heritage in La saga/fuga de J. B. by Torrente Ballester

Abstrakt

In his essay El Quijote como juego Torrente Ballester emphasizes in the Cervantes's novel the lutic attitude of Alonso Quijano who with the help of the words creates a universe and a hero, don Quijote. With a similar strategy Torrente writes his novel La saga/fuga de J.B. whose protagonist José Bastida seems to be a marginal character, but at the end he becomes the main hero and also the narrator and creator of the fictitious universe.

Thanks to the most powerful weapon: the imagination.
