Abstract

A rich tradition of Czech Biblical translation originates in the Middle Ages, the first Czech Bible as a whole appeared in mid-14th century. Also in modern times, from 1900 up to the present time, the activity of Czech translators of Biblical texts has been very intensive, in this period ten entirely new full Czech translations of the Old Testament and sixteen full translations of the New Testament were finished and published for the first time.

The chapter presents the situation of the modern Czech Biblical translation in the 1900-2015 period in a detailed way, characterizes individual translations, identifies their mutual relations and shows the tendencies applied in the work of the translators.
