Abstract

Chronic neurological disorders are manifested in varying degrees of disability and thus affect the individual's quality of life. This article evaluates the potential benefits and the impact on the quality of life in these patients, according to the current state of knowledge.

The literature search has shown that yoga exercise programs can have positive influence on e.g. fatigue, pain, flexibility, postural functions, muscle strength, spasticity, tremor and rigidity. A great impact of yoga practice can be seen especially in the psychological area - it can positively influence the patient's mood, feelings of anxiety, vitality, concentration, self-confidence, feeling of peace and it can release the stress.

Therefore yoga appears to be a suitable complementary treatment to the traditional rehabilitation programs.
