Aesthetics of Uncanny and the Red Laugh by Theatre on the String

Publication at Faculty of Arts |
2016

Abstract

The essay elaborates on Siegmund Freud's concept of uncanny which is being applied onto the performative embodiment of war trauma. The concept is linked with the performace Red Laugh - adaptation of Leonid Andreiev's novel - which was staged by the Brno-based theatre company Theatre on the String in 1975.
