Abstract
Drawing on corpus materiál the study demonstrates that although the French adverb actuellement functions typically as a temporal adjunct, it appears to be undergoing a certain shift towards a contrastive function similar to that of the English adverb actually. Actuellement may also assume text-organizing functions, but this was not fully supported by corpus evidence.
