English translation counterparts of Czech sentences with the particles copak and jestlipak

Abstract

Drawing on the Czech-English parallel translation corpus the paper examines the discourse functions of the particles copak and jestlipak. The English counterparts of Czech sentences with these particles indicate the deliberative, epistemic, inferential and contact functions of the particles with the expressive postfix -pak.
