Abstract
The chapter Albanians and Albanian Literature in the Period of the National Awakening is engaged in literary development in the Albanian ethnic space and in historical context in 1878-1912, at the peak of the Albanian national Awakening. It explains the difficulties in the process of unification of Albanians and also tries to point out the difficult conditions for the development of Albanian literature.
It began to be developed in the centres of Albanian emigration in today's Italy, Romania, Turkey, Bulgaria and Egypt. Later, the cultural and literary impulses spread from these centres into Albania.
The chapter presents the key figures of Albanian literature of the 19th century (J. de Rada, Naim Frashëri, Sami Frasher, Pashko Vasa ad.) and their work.
