Abstract
The chapter describes the starting points, the call for, and the implementation of the international UNESCO-organised campaign to save the monuments of ancient Nubia threatened by the waters of the projected High Dam at Aswan, and informs of the participation of the Czechoslovak Institute of Egyptology of the Charles University in the realisation of the scientific goals of the campaign.
