Abstract

Using the example of today's Sudan, the chapter describes the peculiar civilisational developments of the African continent in late prehistory - during the Mesolithic and the Neolithic, or the Early and Middle Holocene - and points to the way in which these developments manifest themselves in the current political and social situation especially in the northern part of the African continent.
