"Controlled randomness" in metacreation

2016

Abstract

Testing possibilities of metacreation, namely creating autonomy programmed machines able to produce outputs comparable with man-made artefacts, in the history so far was based on the "controlled randomness" method. The inspiration for the aesthetically valuable artefacts were in the beginning partly the curves produced by oscilloscopes, partly additionally composed structures directed by parameters which reached accidental values.

In both cases it was about earlier stipulated range of variability which delimits the range of expected innovations. In a practical application we can test the set of any curves built from the movement of composed circles (Fourier's transformation) in semi diameters and angle speed adopted to the parameters of the golden ratio, or in the next phase to search the procedure of coaching the curves by genetic algorithms.
