Translation Criticism currently resides under the less studied fields within Translation Studies. Nowadays, more than fifty years after the first edition of The Art of Translation (Umění překladu) by Jiří Levý, it is worth highlighting the ideas of the Czech scholar and considering them in the context of the research carried out later in this field of translation.

This leads us to think that translation criticism could push us through a new way of evaluating translation. By orienting the intentions and decisions of the translator towards the effects that the translated text has on the reader, a radical change would occur in some theoretical debates whose real value is arguable.

Lance Hewson contributes to this topic with his method of critical analysis of translation, which emphasizes the need for the translator to consider the effects of his choices on the reader. This method also suggests analyzing the results of the translator's work in the context of the interpretative potential and the stylistic phenomena of the work.
