Abstract

Since the publication of a first paralell (Norwegian-English) corpus, corpus-based materials and methodology have been widely used both in contrastive linguistics and in translation studies, thus contributing to a rapid development of both disciplines. This monograph maps current trends in corpus-based contrastive linguistics and translation studies and presents a wide range of methods, both quantitative and qualitative, that can be applied in corpus-based contrastive research.

At the same time it also points to existing limitations in the field, consisting mainly in the limited size and variety of available data.
