Abstract

In this chapter, we analyze Czech and English texts written for children and teenagers from the perspective of contrastive linguistics and translation studies, based on the n-gram (sequences of n words) extraction. The n-gram method has not yet been systematically applied on larger data in Czech context; this analysis thus also serves as a methodological study identifying possible limitations of this method when used to compare two typologically different languages.
