Abstract

This study draws attention to Julius Ignatz Hainauer (1827-97), who had been since 1850s active in Breslau as a music publisher and a reputable public personality: city councilor, director of the Gesellschaft der Freunde [Society of Friends], honorary member of the Breslauer Orchester-V erein [Breslau Orchestra Society], a.o. It focuses on Hainauer's relations to the famous Czech composer Antonín Dvořák (1841-1904) and on his efforts to publish Dvořák's Piano Concerto in g-Minor op. 33 and other compositions.
