Abstract

Pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics are the primary characteristics of each medicinal preparations, including insulin glargine 300 U/ml. These properties are in fact not the necessary information we communicate to our patients, maybe only to those more thoughtful, but patients are especially interested in what impact these characteristics have for their daily lives, and this is what the following article is about.

Insulin glargine 300 U/ml brings a number of advantages to patients - it is associated with limited risk of hypoglycaemia, it has low variability and extended duration of effect, flexible administration, a new improved applicator, lower volume in one dose, and, last but not least, it has favourable effect on body weight.
