Abstract

The concept of identity acquired in German classical idealism the form of contrast between ancient (epic, poetic) culture and modern Europe (its rationalism, individualism). Russian philosophy of history emphasized the contrast between European modernity and Russian idea of salvation in "sobornost" and "mystic anarchism".

In the 20th century formulated the so-called Eurasianism new concept of identity based on the eternal fight of the nations living around the great steppe.
