In the novel The Black and the Silver Paolo Giordano chronicles not only an extraordinary life of an ordinary woman but also a matrimony crisis and a dashed hope in an ordinary son. The life og all these extra-ordinary people is seen through the filter of a cruel disease - cancer.
In his writings, Giordano optes for a rigorous style quit of emotions. His novel which evokes a scientist's diary make this theme possible to be spoken about in a natural way and without patethism.
