2016

Abstract

The book thematically follows the publication Second Language Acquisition in Complex Linguistic Environments. Russian native speakers acquiring standard and non-standard varieties of German and Czech.

It attempts to present a more comprehensive overview of linguistic behaviour and the methods used in its research in the Russian-language community in the Czech Republic. Attention is given to the character and typology of mistakes which appear in linguistic expressions of Russian-speaking individuals at different language levels, the problem of foreign accent in their speech and the use of standard and non-standard Czech.

The identified linguistic competences are then described in relation to the sociodemographic factors and other parameters which indicate the level of integration of the analysed group into the majority society. The book also deals with the topic of teaching Czech as a foreign language, since mastering the Czech language is a condition for a successful integration into a new environment.
