Key competencies of educational managers

Abstract

Development of key competencies is in the Czech Republic discussed primarily in the context of the curriculum (school) reform. Development of key competencies is evaluated while developing key competencies of pupils of appropriate level and type of formal education.

Contrary to this practice, the contribution deals with the key competencies of managers of education (especially of senior teaching staff/headmasters etc.). It does so in the context of the original idea of key competences for lifelong learning and in the context of requirements for continuing professional education of the group of adult learners specified above.

The paper also deals with the background of the development of key competencies of educational managers within the competency-based management (development leading to the acquisition, development and transformation of competencies of employees - competency-based development).
