The chapter focuses itself on the analysis of Czech politics on several levels. The chapter analyzes the gradual breakup of the Czechs to the monarchy and the milestones of this process: the situation at the beginning of the war, the struggle between loyal, and resistance wing of Czech politics and gradual social and national radicalization of Czech society.
Above all, however, it shows that the Czech case was not exceptional in the monarchy and that in such a way defended their interests also other national societies in the monarchy.
