The study Excellence in Diversity: Profiles of Higher Education Institutions in the Czech Republic 2016 presents the profiles of 21 public higher education institutions and their 130 faculties in the Czech Republic in 2016. It compares and assesses their scope and performance in various areas of their activity, displaying a great variability of their functions and roles brought about by the expansion of Czech higher education over the last two decades.
The profiles are based on analysing several hundred variables for each public HEI and faculty. The results have been aggregated to 85 indicators covering seven dimensions: Emphasis on science, research and creativity; International openness and attractiveness; Regional development and social inclusion; Attractiveness for applicants and quality of enrolment; Students' and graduates' evaluation of studies, programmes and teachers; Links with industry/practice and continuing education; and Graduates in the labour market.
Although the authors have drawn inspiration from some international projects, they have primarily made use of many years of experience in comparative work, thorough knowledge of Czech higher education system and institutions, high methodological standards and the capacity to work with data about individual institutions, as well as they have applied and developed their original theoretical concept and analytic approach.
