Abstract

Insulin sensitivity in relation to insulin treatment is understood to mean to sensitivity of the diabetic patient to the effect of exogenous insulin. It is affected by a number of variable, which need to be carefully evaluated, over the course of the insulin treatment.

Insulin sensitivity can fluctuate and these fluctuations can cause long-term diabetes decompensation, hypoglycaemias are a significant risk in such a condition. Beneficial effects of modern insulin preparations significantly lower the risk of hypoglycaemia and excessive weight gain.
