Abstract

Surfaces with gradually varying chemical composition or roughness along sample length are very useful for basic studies of the interactions between biological systems and surfaces as they enable to examine dependence of a selected property in a single experiment on one surface. Here we present an overview of the state-of-the-art strategies for production of such gradient surfaces with emphasis given to plasma based methods.
